Wayne County rolls over Pitt County in Game 1 of the American Legion East finals

DUDLEY, N.C. -

Wayne County exploded for seven runs in the second inning and blew out Pitt County 20-6 in game one of the American Legion Area One East finals Sunday night.

Game two in the best-of-five series is set for Monday night at Pitt Community College.

Chad Spurgen led Wayne County on offense with a 3-4 night and 5 rbi's. Tyler Garrett was 4-4 for Pitt County.

Reed Howell picked up the victory for Wayne County, allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked four and gave up nine hits.  Pitt's Brady Hill took the loss, giving up ten runs in three innings.
