Sale of Washington city hall moves forward

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, N.C. - The City of Washington is moving forward with plans to sell the old city hall.

A Chocowinity man has offered to pay $20,000 for the building on Market Street.

The City Council met Monday night approving the offer. It does come with a 48 month deadline. At that time or if the sell falls through, the city could take back control of the building.

Also at the meeting, the council approved as resolution to help a petition to make the mouth of Runyon Creek a "no wake" zone for boaters.
