WEATHER AWARE: Severe storms expected throughout Monday

COLUMBUS, Ga. - We are still expecting severe storms on Monday that is why the First Alert Weather Team is Weather Aware as we start the week.

A warm front will lift up through the Chattahoochee Valley Monday morning putting us in the warm sector. Our chances will start to increase Monday afternoon when we get a few peaks of sunshine to help the atmosphere destabilize more in an already volatile environment. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s with dewpoints not too far behind in the 60s.

TIMING: Monday afternoon starting around 5 p.m. eastern (4 p.m. central) until the cold front passes which doesn't occur until early Tuesday morning (~6 a.m.)

THREATS: All modes of severe weather will be possible.

  • Damaging hail up to 1" in diameter.
    • Some storms could be isolated and have hail 2-3" in diameter.
  • Damaging winds up to 70 mph
  • Isolated tornadoes.
