COLUMBUS, Ga — The time of year has arrived for river rafting enthusiasts who flock to Columbus for the Grand Whitewater Paddle.
This is the third straight year the Chattahoochee River hosts the event that brings thousands from around the South to the city. The two day event offers everything from live music to record breaking whitewater rafting and cold beer.
Friday night’s festivities will kick off with live bands performing at 6 p.m. The celebration will recognize the Georgia Conservancy’s 50th Anniversary of protecting Georgia’s natural resources and also Columbus’ achievement at becoming a whitewater recreation destination.
Saturday’s river rafting event begins at 9 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m.
