Four special senior citizens at Canterbury Healthcare Facility proved it’s never too late to snatch a crown. The ladies vying to become Ms.Canterbury 2018 showed off their intelligence, poise and evening wear in the inaugural Ms. Canterbury nursing home pageant. Canterbury resident Carol Howard won the crown, while her competition walked away with awards for best smile, best personality and best interview.
Pageant judge and 2018 Ms. Senior Alabama USA Sara Jo Burks gave News 3 some insight on what the judges were looking for.
“I think we will be looking for someone that will represent this nursing home facility to the best of their ability,” says Burks. “I think you want someone that’s got personality…that’s friendly and charming, and can can go on to the state nursing home pageant and be a good representative there, because naturally they want a winner and I’d like to be one of the judges that help pick the winner.”
Carol Howard, the winner of Ms. Canterbury will move on to compete at the state level in the Ms. Alabama nursing home pageant in Birmingham in July.
