Commercial & Residential Flooring

The difference between commercial and residential flooring

On the surface, commercial and residential installations might seem similar, but they aren’t. A homeowner’s needs depend on the individual. Every residential flooring consumer wants a style and various levels of durability and maintenance. Commercial needs vary according to industry.

Huckaby Brothers Floor Covering, a family-owned and operated business, has been providing flooring for over 40 years. We service homeowners, as well as businesses, schools, universities, churches, community centers, medical facilities, and more. When you buy from us you can be sure of quality product and fine craftsmanship in installation.

You’ll also know you’re supporting community businesses. We provide a free estimate, free in-home design consultation, and professional installation. Visit our showroom in Phenix City serving that city as well as Auburn and Opelika AL., and Columbus and Fort Benning, GA.

What are the needs of commercial flooring?

As examples for industries: Restaurants have many concerns, including image/style, durability, and safety. This results in a need for a flooring installation that’s both fire retardant (little kitchen fires can quickly become big ones) and slip-proof floors to minimize legal issues. A medical office, however, might prioritize a material that’s extremely hygienic and hypoallergenic. They’ll also need materials that do not violate the building’s codes.

What are the needs of the homeowner?

It’s also where the subject of the grade comes in; some materials, such as carpet, have both residential commercial grades, making the one type heavier, sturdier, and easier to clean. Commercial flooring carpets almost always come in low pile styles because that pile is easier to clean and more durable.

If a fashionable, highly designed office (such as advertising or architectural) wants hardwood, there are always some species that are stronger than others.

They want a style. That depends on personal preference and the overall style of the home. Needs depend on the lifestyle of the individual, i.e, whether or not they have big families, pets, etc. It also depends on the room where it’s to be installed; a plush carpet will work in some areas, but not in, say, the home office where wheels can get caught in fibers.Request an estimate
