Chuck Williams

Longtime Columbus print and digital journalist Chuck Williams has joined the news staff at WRBL News 3 as a Digital Content Manager in November of 2018.

Williams, who has most recently served as a senior reporter at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, grew up in Eufaula, Ala. In addition to serving twice as metro editor, Williams also served as assistant sports editor, sports editor, sports columnist, general interest columnist, investigative reporter, Columbus government reporter, Georgia General Assembly reporter, business editor, business reporter and East Alabama reporter for the newspaper.

Over the last 29 years, his work has honored by the Georgia Associated Press, Georgia Press Association, and McClatchy Newspapers, the parent company of the Ledger-Enquirer. He has won multiple Freedom of Information awards as an investigative journalist. He has covered Columbus, Phenix City and Fort Benning extensively. 

His 2015 coverage of gender integration of U.S. Army Ranger School at Fort Benning was awarded a President’s Award from McClatchy and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Prior to joining the Ledger-Enquirer, Williams worked at The Anniston Star, Montgomery Advertiser and Dothan Eagle, where he began his career after graduating from Troy University in 1982.
