Rex Castillo

Rex Castillo became WRBL Sports Director in August 2018. Before arriving in the Chattahoochee Valley he was the weekend sports anchor in WRBL's sister station, WSAV, in Savannah, Georgia.  Rex's sports career started back in his home state of Texas. His first stop was in a small city in West Texas, San Angelo. San Angelo is a small, high school football-crazy town between San Antonio and El Paso.

While presenting sportscasts and calling highlights is always a perk of a sportscaster’s job, Rex really enjoys getting out of the studio and out to the schools to meet and learn about the athletes and coaches in the Valley Area. To Rex, being On Your Side means bringing you the human stories you can’t find in a box score. And that also means you’ll be hearing from the young men and women who don’t always get all of the attention but whose stories are worth telling.

Born in Houston, Rex lived in the Middle East for 13 years. He graduated from the University of Texas-San Antonio in 2013 and took a unique path to sports journalism. He enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard serving six years as a Public Relations Officer before landing his first news job in Temple, Texas.

You can see Rex’s sportscasts weekends at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. If you have a great sports story he's always open to ideas so email him at:
