UPDATE 9/12/23 p.m.: Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry has confirmed the cause of death for 26-year-old Darell Hunter.
According to Sumbry, Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:30 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds.
Sumbry says Hunter’s body will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery, Alabama for an autopsy.
UPDATE 9/12/23 2:43 p.m.: The Phenix City Police Department shared new details on the law enforcement presence near Pine St.
Police responded to a duplex at the 1300 block of 17th Ave. just after 12 p.m. on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, police say they found 26-year-old Darrell Hunter Jr. dead inside the home.
Phenix City Police Captain Skip Lassiter confirmed to WRBL the death has been ruled a homicide.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Phenix City Police Department.
UPDATE 9/12/23 2:19 p.m.: The scene at Pine St. and 17th Ave. remains active.
The Russell County Coroner is present as of about 2:20 p.m.
