1 arrested, 1 injured in early morning shooting in Opelika

OPELIKA, Ala. – Police responded to the 1800 block of Toomer Street early Monday morning where they found a 17-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The teen was transported to East Alabama Medical Center and then flown to Columbus Midtown Medical Center for treatment where he is currently in critical, but stable condition.

The 18-year-old suspect, Antonio Goodman, was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Opelika Police say he was pepper-sprayed by the victim and involved in a car crash during his escape from the altercation.

Goodman was arrested for attempted murder and is currently in the Lee County Jail.
