African-American voter turnout played a big part in Jones victory


PHENIX CITY, Ala. — Voter turnout played a big role in this election with nearly three times the amount of voters showing up on Tuesday than for the primaries and GOP senate runoff.

African-Americans made up almost 30% of the electorate this time, surpassing the record turnout when Barack Obama was on the ballot.
