Hubbard calls for new trial, dismiss conviction

Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala — Former Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard asks the court for a new trial or dismissal of his conviction.

Hubbard claims he did not get a fair and impartial trial when he was convicted of 12 ethics charges in May. He was sentenced to four years in state prison and 18 years probation.

Hubbard claims prosecutors in his case made an improper presentation of an expert witness. He also says misinterpretation of the law was the reason for his conviction.
