Lee Co. deputies find dead body Wednesday morning

Alabama

LEE COUNTY, Al — The Lee County Sheriff’s office says a man was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Jay Jones confirms the man was found at the intersection of Lee Road 401 and Lee Road 170 at around 6:30 a.m. He says another person driving by saw the body and called 911.

Jones says the man suffered some kind of trauma but couldn’t go into more details on the ongoing investigation. Investigators say their priority is identifying the victim. They believe the man had been deceased for at least 12 hours.

Kim Young regularly drives down the road the body was found on. She says her and her daughter saw it, and they say they will never forget it.

“His body was twisted, and his shirt was pulled up,” Young said. “You could see his stomach. His pants were pulled down and his face was down in the ground.”

Young says as a result, each time she drives down that road, she will always think of what she saw Wednesday morning.

“I’ll probably always look over this way. I will always see that man laying right there on the ground like he was laying: lifeless. Just twisted up, thrown away.”

Due to a heavy case load, the autopsy will not take place until Thursday morning in Montgomery. This is a developing story. Stay with News 3 for updates.
