Lowder Hall fire damage assessment underway

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University says they are in the damage assessment process of Lowder Hall.

News 3 did a walk through of the building Wednesday. The university says there is severe smoke damage in halls of the first floor as well as charring in the concentrated area of the fire.

The university says there will need to be some duct work replacement, electrical control system work, and more. They are hoping to get some faculty in the building in the coming days and hope to have some classes up and running for the fall.

“The more classroom space we can bring online and office space we can allow to be re-occupied, will just make everything with the recovery process easier because there will be less we have to relocate probably into a less optimal space than we have at Lowder Hall,” said Daniel King.

King says they hope to have the building fully operational by the end of the fall semester.
