Sheriff: Camera placed and removed from Ladonia Sports Complex

Alabama

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. – The Russell County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference Monday afternoon about their involvement in the FBI investigation of an Opelika man accused of placing hidden cameras in public restrooms.

Sheriff Heath Taylor says 31-year-old Kirston Dowdell is accused of placing cameras in a restroom at the Ladonia Sports Complex located in Russell County. Dowdell was arrested earlier this month.

Taylor says the cameras found at the Ladonia Sports Complex also looked like a coat hanger, but was removed from the property by Dowdell.

Investigators were able to identify the Ladonia Sports Complex because of the way the files were labeled on Dowdell’s computer.

Russell County Sheriff’s Office is working with the FBI to identify the victims, but all identities will remain confidential.

Taylor says more answers are expected by next week.
