HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Alabama A&M law enforcement officers believe a student fired a gun outside a campus residence hall over the weekend.
The university says in a statement no one was injured by the shots that were reported around 10:45 p.m. Sunday outside Thomas Hall, a male dormitory near the historic district.
Authorities say they have identified a student from Mobile as a suspect, but he was not immediately charged. It is unclear why the gun was fired.
A university representative tells WAAY-TV students with weapons can receive sanctions or fines for violating housing regulations. Their cases also go to the University Judiciary Board.
