Multiple arrests made in drug trafficking and distribution investigation

TALLAPOOSA COUNTY, Ala. - Five simultaneous search warrants were issued across Tallapoosa County Thursday, May 3 along with several arrests.

The Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, US Marshal Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force, Lee County K-9, New Site Police Department, Macon County K-9, Alexander City Special Response Group, ATF(Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms) and Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department help assist in the search warrants.

According to a release from the sheriff's department, investigators began the raids early Thursday morning that span from New Site to Dadeville.

The Task Force recovered approximately 180 grams of synthetic marijuana, 100 grams of marijuana several grams of methamphetamine, crack and heroin. Also seized were four firearms, one vehicle and $8,761.00 in cash.

The following arrests are result from the search warrants:

  • 29-year-old Samuel Wright of Dadeville: Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 38-year-old Jenny Joiner of Jackson Gap: Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 29-year-old Quadier Cook of Alexander City: Two (2) counts of Chemical Endangerment of a Child, Criminal Trespass 3rd degree, Attempting to Elude Police, Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 34-year-old Ronnie Hutchins of Dadeville: Two (2) counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, three (3) counts of Chemical Endangerment of a Child, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 55-year-old Nathan "Guy" Russell of Dadeville: Eight (8) counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Trafficking Synthetic Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • 27-year-old Jawaun Russell of New Site: one (1) count of Conspiracy to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime, Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, Certain Persons to Possess a Firearm, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • 55-year-old James Edgar Benson of Dadeville: Four (4) counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Controlled Substance, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • 24-year-old Jarvis Black of Dadeville: Three (3) counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • 59-year-old Ronnie Giles of Dadeville: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 36-year-old Dewayne Jackson of Alexander City: Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • 55-year-old Johnny Guy of Alexander City: Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana 2nd.
  • 56-year-old Mark Ballard of Alexander City: Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
  • 60-year-old James Green of Hanceville: Two (2) counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • 30-year-old Renee Cardillo of Ellensburg, Washington: Two (2) counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The sheriff's department continues to investigate illegal trafficking, distribution and possession of narcotics ongoing in Tallapoosa County.
