Police arrest man after multi-county high speed chase ends in Eufaula

EUFAULA, Ala. - Eufaula police have a man in custody after a high speed pursuit across multiple counties in southeast Alabama.

Police say they were engaged in a high speed pursuit that started in Troy, Alabama. Officers in Troy determined that the car was reported stolen from Tennessee.

According to police, the chase continued through Clio, Clayton and Louisville onto County Road 49 and ultimately onto US Highway 82 in Eufaula.

Eufaula officers spotted the vehicle traveling east on US 82 and were able to setup and deploy spike strips, disabling the vehicle. The vehicle struck the rear of another car before coming to a stop near Cotton Avenue.

One woman was transported to Medical Center Barbour her injury.

Police arrested Stephen Lamar Erby and he will be charged with attempting to elude, bringing stolen property into the state, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and criminal mischief 2nd. Erby will also be facing multiple charges from multiple agencies related to the chase.
