Arrest warrant issued in Renee Eldridge murder

Valley Police say they have issued an arrest warrant in the murder of a Columbus woman who they found under a bridge in their jurisdiction.

Authorities are on the lookout for Columbus/Phenix City man Stacey Demar Gray, who is suspected in connection with the homicide of Renee Eldridge. Eldridge originally went missing on July 4 from her home in Columbus. Her body was found in Osanippa Creek in Valley last Monday. She was discovered to have died from blunt force trauma to the head. Monday, friends and family came together for her funeral service.

Police say Gray, 45, is near Notasulga in the Macon County area, not too far from Lee County. Authorities have now enlisted the help of U.S. Marshals in pursuit of Gray. Police say Marshals attempted to arrest Gray at a traffic stop in Notasulga, but he ran into the woods where officials are currently searching for him.

Authorities list Gray at 5’9″, weighing approximately 205 lbs.
