Athens-Clarke County police search for rape suspect

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Police are trying to identify a rape suspect they say attacked a young woman in downtown Athens Sunday.

Media reports say the assault was at about 1:40 a.m.

A forensic artist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation recently met with the 21-year-old victim to draw a sketch of the suspect, which was made public Wednesday.

Athens-Clarke County police announce Wednesday that a reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

The suspect has been described as a black male in his 30s or 40s. The victim says he is bald, with a stocky build and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Athens-Clarke County Police at (706) 613-3330 or Crime Stoppers at (706) 705-4775.
