Auburn man arrested after weekend robbery

Auburn police have made an arrest into a robbery that occurred over the weekend.

Police arrested 21-year-old Tommie Tyson, Jr from Auburn on a felony warrant charging him with robbery third degree.

According to a release, officers responded around 9 p.m. to a parking lot of a convenience store in the 800 block of East Glenn Avenue.

Police say a 19-year-old male was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by an individual demanding money and his cell phone.

The victim refused and the suspect began striking him; the victim ran inside the business and called police. Tyson Jr., was located hiding behind the business and was arrested.

Tyson was transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on a $10,000 bond. The victim did not sustain any injuries, and the case remains under investigation by Auburn Police.
