Auburn man charged in burglary of West Longleaf Drive home

Auburn police have a man in custody after a burglary occurred.

20-year-old Jamarcus Daquan Richmond from Auburn on warrants charging him with Burglary 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree (2 counts), and Theft of Property 2nd Degree.  

According to a release, around 9:00 a.m. January 29, officers responded to a home in the 800 block of W. Longleaf Drive. According to the victim, two armed suspects entered the home, confronted those inside and demanded money and property.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry and fled; no injuries were reported.  

Further investigation determined that Richmond, an acquaintance of the victims, had been at the home hours earlier and returned to commit the robbery.

Richmond was located, taken into custody, and transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on a $305,000 bond.  

The case remains under investigation and additional arrests are anticipated.
