CUMMING, Ga. (AP) – One of the South’s largest high schools has just opened in Atlanta’s northern suburbs.
WSB-TV reports that Denmark High School is expected to eventually hold up to 2,500 students on its sprawling campus in fast-growing Forsyth County.
On Thursday, more than 1,300 students in grades nine to 11 started class, with no senior class during this first year that it’s open.
School officials say that before the school was built, the land included a barn, stables and an equestrian facility. Officials say they’re going to keep those structures and incorporate them into a veterinary sciences program.
