LaGrange police investigating late night stabbing death; suspect caught in Alabama

LAGRANGE, Ga (WRBL) - In LaGrange, family and friends and grieving the loss of a 62-year-old man who police say was killed by his boyfriend.

Police say the stabbing is 39-year-old Jeremy Sullivan. Sullivan is accused of stabbing his 62-year-old boyfriend, Dale Obracay to death Tuesday night.

Authorities say Sullivan was arrested Wednesday in Evergreen, Alabama after allegedly taking off in his boyfriend's car.

Wednesday LaGrange police confirmed the city's second murder of 2018. They say it happened in the Whispering Pines Apartment complex.

"We were able to get information that he in fact had taken the victim's car and the victim's dog and fled the area," says Lt. Dale Strickland.

Police arrested Sullivan around 2 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen, Alabama. Sullivan is being held in the Conecuh County Jail. LaGrange police provide News 3 with a history of the couple's relationship.

"They had been together over 15 years as we understand it. had an on-again off-again relationship that had pretty much lived together that entire time and had recently moved to Georgia from Florida. They had only been here in that apartment complex for a couple of months," says Lt. Dale Strickland.

Police explain whether neighbors said the couple had a history of violence.

"We did conduct a canvas and we didn't get a lot of information especially from last night. They knew that the individuals lived there but no major issues we've been made aware of there at that location," says Lt. Dale Strickland.

Authorities are still working to learn what exactly led to the stabbing death. They're providing a word of advice to those, who may find themselves in heated situations.

"Anytime you're involved in an argument with an individual it's always best to step away... give yourself an opportunity to cool down... Be able to think about the actions you may take and the consequences for any actions you decide to take," says Lt. Dale Strickland.

Police say Sullivan will be extradited to LaGrange once a hearing takes place. They also say more charges are pending for the suspect.
