NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The last remaining fugitive from charges against alleged members of the Gangster Disciples street gang has been arrested in Louisiana.
FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett says 38-year-old Shauntay Craig was arrested Sunday night in Marrero by the FBI and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Emmett says Craig is scheduled to appear Monday before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in New Orleans and awaits extradition to Atlanta.
Craig is charged with racketeering conspiracy and murder, as well as conspiracy to distribute methamphetamines.
Federal officials already arrested 48 others.
Craig was indicted April 28 in Atlanta on charges relating to criminal activities with the Gangster Disciples. Indictments against others were unsealed that day in Memphis, Tennessee. Federal officials say Craig has been a “board member” or national leader of the gang since 2009.
