Additional arrests made in kidnapping, rape and human trafficking case in Auburn

AUBURN, Ala (WRBL) - Two people are charged with human trafficking in the first degree Monday, February 19, 2018. 

Auburn police arrested 35-year-old Laquinta Shamon Tarbert and 31-year-old Courtney Cortez Morgan. 

Police say the arrest stems from an investigation of a 13-year-old female runaway held against her will at an Auburn home. Police say she was also sexually assaulted. 37-year-old Brian D. Askew and 36-year-old Corey B. Heard have also been charged in connection to the case. 

Investigators say Tarbert and Morgan were allegedly accomplices in the case, and warrants were obtained for their arrest. 

Police say they located the two at an Auburn home. 

Tarbert and Morgan are being held at the Lee County Jail on a 100,000 bond.

News 3 previously reported that Auburn police arrested Askew and Heard in connection to the kidnapping and rape of the 13-year-old girl. Police say Askew is being charged with Human Trafficking First Degree.

Police say Heard was charged with Rape First Degree. Heard was arrested by police on Sunday, January 21 on an unrelated charge of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and taken into custody on the Rape Charge. 

Police say Askew and Heard are being held in the Lee County Jail. Askew is being held on an additional 100,000 bond while Heard is being held on a 100,000 bond.
