UPATOI TRIPLE MURDER TRIAL: Prosecution enters 200+ crime scene photos into evidence

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Jurors have now heard from crime scene investigators, Burks' former codefendant Raheam Gibson and viewed hundreds of photos of the gruesome scene where Gloria Short, Caleb Short and Gianna Lindsey were found back on January 4, 2016.

Assistant District Attorney Chris Williams called Columbus Police Department Crime Scene Investigator Corporal Derick Soult to the stand first thing Tuesday morning to go over the photos and explain the scene to the jury. Soult described the intense disarray around the house and how investigators found the bodies.

"Initial feelings about the debris there is that they were beaten with everything in the house. ... We had a chance to, forgive me for using this term, roll the body, and you could see that it was as if her hands were tied around her neck so she couldn't get movement out of them and her head was also significantly bound," says Corporal Derick Soult.

The prosecution also brought out physical evidence such as the 20 lbs weight identified as the main object used to beat the victims.

Jurors also heard a first-hand account from Raheam Gibson about the planning that went into the incidents.

Gibson agreed to a plea deal on the first day of jury selection back on January 29. His testimony insures the state will suggest only 30 years in prison come sentencing.
