UPDATE 05:47 p.m. – The Opelika Police Department confirms a teenager was shot earlier today in the area of Chester Avenue and Easy Street.

According to police, dispatchers received the call about the shooting at 3:00 p.m., with officers responding and finding the 17-year-old suffering a gunshot wound.

The teen has been taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment. The individual’s condition is not available at this time.

The suspect fled the scene following the shooting.
