COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)-Columbus Police are investigating an early-morning shooting on Steam Mill Road that has left one dead. 

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says Tayquann James, 36, died on the scene 5:59am. Bryan says he died of multiple gunshot wounds. James was here visiting from his home in Patterson, New Jersey.

The shooting happened east of Goodson Drive., according to a police department spokesperson. 

There are no additional details at this time and police are on the scene.
