AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in Georgia say a missing man was found dead in a shallow grave and the man who murdered him has been arrested.

News outlets report 41-year-old John Daniels was arrested and charged with murder in the death of John Jones. Jones had been missing since Aug. 28.

An arrest warrant from Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says Daniels fatally shot Jones in the back of the head. It says Jones’ body was found days later in a shallow grave.

Villa Europa manager Peggy Schaffer says Jones worked for the restaurant for almost seven years. She says he was the “John of all trades” and was always a reliable asset.

The investigation is ongoing. Daniels was previously convicted in 1997 for possession of marijuana. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
