2:00 p.m. — CSU officials say a two-hour lockdown on Clearview Hall has now been lifted, following reports of a suspected gunman on campus.

1:15 p.m. — A reporter on the scene says Columbus police, Columbus State University Police, the ATF and a special reaction team are responding to Clearview Hall where witnesses report seeing a potential gunman.

COLUMBUS, Ga — Columbus State University police confirm they are looking for a person with a gun on campus.

Police say witnesses describe the potential gunman as a black male, 17-19 years, dark clothes, stocking cap, and medium build. They say he was last seen in the Clearview Hall dorm at around 11 a.m.

The school’s public information department says the dorm is on lockdown.

Police say campus is not shut down at this time, but students are urged to stay inside. Visitors are also asked to avoid the area.
