DADEVILLE, Ala. (AP) – A Dadeville man has been charged with aggravated cruelty after sheriff’s deputies say he shot and killed an animal in the Goldville community.
The Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Ethan Towne was arrested Thursday on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals and a charge of discharging a firearm upon or across a public road.
Local media sources report Towne was identified as a suspect following an investigation into a Nov. 25 report to the Alabama Department of Fish and Game that a donkey had been killed in a pasture on Alabama Highway 49.
Towne is being held in the Tallapoosa County Jail on a $30,000 bond. It was unknown if he has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
