ROME, Ga. (AP) – A former employee of a northwest Georgia school district has been indicted following his arrest in a multi-state child exploitation sting.

Twenty-six-year-old Jeffrey Ryan Lance was indicted Friday on a charge of obscene internet contact with a child. The Rome News-Tribune reports Lance and 75 others who were arrested in the sting had communicated online with people they believed to be minors to arrange for sex.

Officials said they were arrested in February and March when they traveled to places with the intent of committing sexual acts with children. The Operation Southern Impact II sting was a coordinated exploitation investigation across eight states.

The News-Tribune reports Lance was fired from his job as an administrative assistant in the facilities department of Floyd County Schools on March 15.
