Four recovering after high-speed chase and crash in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga.- Four people are recovering in Columbus after being injured in a crash- following a high speed chase with police.

Captain Gordon Griswould says the chase happened around 10 a.m.

It ended in a crash near the intersection of Lockwood Avenue and Buena Vista Road.

Traffic was blocked for hours.

Police were in pursuit of the suspect who had warrants.

One witness, who didn’t want to be named describes the chaotic scene.

“Well the guy came down the road, trying to swerve and avoid the police and crashed in to somebody else. All of them were hurt. Everybody in the car hurt, everybody.”

Thankfully, Captain Griswould says he believes everyone in the crash sustained non- life threatening injuries.

News 3 is working to learn if there were other cars involved.

We’re also working to learn the suspect’s name and any charges he or she may face.
