3 dead in plane crash near west Georgia airport, FAA confirms


CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) — The Carroll County deputy fire chief says three people are dead following a plane crash near a small airport in western Georgia.

WSB-TV reports Deputy Fire Chief Bud Benefield confirms the crash happened Wednesday near West Georgia Regional Airport. The FAA confirms two planes crashed in midair.

The county is located about 45 miles west of Atlanta.
