COLUMBUS, Ga — Plans for the construction of the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange are full steam ahead. One of the biggest changes folks in LaGrange will see is that crews have begun clearing the way for the construction.
Great Wolf, a 500-thousand square foot facility, is set to open sometime in 2018.
Construction workers are building a road that will lead back to the resort and land is being cleared at Pegasus Parkway and Whitesville Road.
LaGrange Mayor Jim Thornton says he’s excited about building up the area’s economy
“I have made it my priority to try and recruit more economic development, particularly in the retail front. I think it’s going to be transformative, especially for exit 13, which quite honestly has been an underdeveloped part of our community,” says Thornton.
Since Great Wolf announced its intention to come to Troup County, a developer announced an outlet mall will be built near it on exit 13.
