Early Wednesday afternoon, APD responded to the “active shooter” situation at 1110 W Peachtree St NW.

The four injured victims were taken to the hospital. Grady Health’s chief of staff confirmed they are all adults.

The fifth victim was pronounced dead on the scene, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) said.

APD released multiple surveillance photos of Patterson.

“The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached,” the department said in a tweet.

As of 1:30 p.m., APD said there have been no additional shots fired since the initial response around 12:30 p.m.

At 3:06 p.m., the shelter-in-place order was lifted for Midtown Atlanta.

Officers are actively searching for the suspect and any other victims, APD said.

According to Sen. Raphael Warnock, his children were among many on lockdown during the incident. Fellow Sen. Jon Ossoff released a statement following the shooting:

“Today’s horrific attack at Northside Medical Midtown is an attack on all Georgians.

“I send my condolences to the family of the deceased, and I pray for the health of those wounded, their families, and all who witnessed such a terrible event.

“I thank all first responders, officers, deputies, and Federal agents who responded to the scene and who are now working to apprehend the suspect.

“The level of gun violence in America today is unconscionable and unacceptable, and policymakers at all levels have a responsibility to ensure public safety and implement long-overdue reforms.

“I remain in communication with state and local elected leaders and law enforcement officials and continue to monitor the situation closely.

“Residents are urged to comply with directions from local public safety officials as an armed and dangerous assailant remains at large.”
