SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Police say the death of a Savannah worker found dead at a school construction site is being investigated as a homicide.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police identify the dead man as Raymond Williams, a 46-year-old “overnight site worker.”
Police say he was found unresponsive by a worker at the construction site of Juliette Low Elementary School, and later declared dead.
Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools spokeswoman Sheila Blanco says the school building is to be open for the 2017-2018 school year.
The killing is the latest in a bloody year for the Savannah area. A Savannah newspaper reports police have investigated 32 homicides in the metro area so far this year, compared to 21 at this time last year.
