Taylor County announces superintendent fired

12:45 P.M. — Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Albritton confirms the school board voted 3-2 Monday night to terminate Superintendent Dr. Gary Gibson.

Albritton also says the board voted to appoint former Superintendent Norman Carter as an interim fill-in.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Ga — The Taylor County school board says the superintendent is “no longer with us”.

The board announces Dr. Gary Gibson will no longer be superintendent after Monday night’s school board meeting.

Teachers and parents tell News 3 they are shocked at the sudden departure.

Mother Troylette Reynolds tells News 3 she and other parents went to Taylor County High School in Butler Monday morning to protest Dr. Gibson being fired.

WRBL called the school board, which says it will not confirm at this time if Dr. Gibson was fired or left his position.
