STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) – One Georgia Southern student is dead and another is faces charges after a shooting Wednesday morning.

Bulloch County Deputies say they responded to the crime around 2:20 a.m. at a home on Planters Lane.

There they report finding 20-year-old Blake Shurling of Tennille, Georgia dead of a gunshot wound.

After interviews with tenants, Deputies arrested 20-year-old Coleton Weatherford of Statesboro.  He’s charged with Manslaughter-Felony, Reckless Conduct, and Discharging a Firearm while Under the Influence.

Both Weatherford and Shurling are GSU students and know each other well, according to deputies.  Investigators say alcohol was a significant factor in the shooting.
