Great Wolf Lodge coming to Georgia, officials confirm

LAGRANGE, Ga -- Plans are underway to break ground on a new Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark and resort that will come to LaGrange by 2018, the mayor confirms.

Mayor Jim Thornton says the deal is official to bring the next installment of America's largest family on indoor waterpark resorts to Georgia.

A Great Wolf Lodge Resort representative says the $170 million project will mean 500 jobs for the community and 500,000 visitors annually.

The facility is expected to include a 93,000 square ft. indoor waterpark, an outdoor play area, bowling lanes, an arcade, and 456 overnight luxury suites.

LaGrange City officials say the impact on the community could bring "millions and millions of dollars" to Georgia.

Thornton says there are plans to build retail lots around the water park, including an outlet mall. Great Wolf first wanted to build in Peachtree City, but city leaders voted the proposal down.
