Man receives life in prison in 2016 slaying in Georgia

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2016 slaying and aggravated assaults during a family dispute in Georgia.
The Savannah Morning News reports that 38-year-old Karonta Morrell was also given an additional 70 years Wednesday night in the shooting death of Jonathan Lang. Testimony shows that 28-year-old Lang was shot by a .45-caliber handgun during a quarrel that spilled into the street.
Lang was identified as Morrell's cousin.
The weapon was never recovered.
Morrell was convicted on several counts of murder and aggravated assault on two others in the same shooting. They were merged into a single conviction for purposes of sentencing.
Morrell was arrested in 2016 after hiding under dirty clothes in the laundry room of his girlfriend's house.
