Greg Loyd

Greg Loyd joined the WRBL News 3 team in May 2016.

He began his career in television at age 17 as a weekend master control operator at WTXL in Tallahassee, Florida.  He returned to that station as an intern and production assistant during his senior year at The Florida State University where he earned a degree in Media Communication with a minor in Journalism.

Greg’s first on-air job was working as a bureau chief for WALB in Albany.  He wrote, shot, and produced several stories each day, covering beats in eight southeastern Georgia counties.  While at WALB, Greg covered the Flood of 1998 that ravaged Albany and the surrounding areas. Greg’s next stop in television was at WFXL, also in Albany, where he reported on weekends, before being promoted to co-anchor and co-producer of the station’s two weeknight broadcasts.  Readers of The Albany Herald voted Greg “One of the Best Local TV Anchors,” and he also received an award nod from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for his series “The Ghosts of Georgia” during his time at WFXL.

Following his years working in television in Albany, Greg attended graduate school. He earned a Master’s in English from Valdosta State University and has spent more than a decade working as an English professor at community colleges in Georgia and Florida.

Greg is excited to be living in the Valley, and he looks forward to telling your stories.  He invites you to contact him with your story ideas.
