IRS announces tax season’s start date despite government shutdown.

News

Despite the government shutdown, the IRS has announced the tax season start date.

President Trump’s administration says income tax season will not be affected by the partial government shutdown.

The IRS says tax-filing season officially begins January 28th. About 75 percent of taxpayers receive annual refunds.

“As you get tax documents such as W-2 forms and student loan interest statements, put them all together in a safe place. That way, you’ll be able to file ahead of the April 15 deadline,” says taxpreparer Lugenia Arnold.
