A section of 12th Avenue located near the Talbotton Road intersection will be temporarily closed for construction beginning Monday, March 10.
The construction project is part of efforts by the Georgia Department of Transportation to widen GA 982 from 7th Ave. to Woodruff Rd/Hilton Ave., with the 12th Ave. work continuing through Sunday, March 16.
The portion of 12th Ave. closed during the week will be “near the 12th Avenue/Georgia 982/Talbotton Road intersection” in Columbus.
In a press release, the Georgia DoT stated ,”workers will be tearing out a portion of the roadway and replacing it with new layers and asphalt, as well as working on the curbing and gutters.”
A detour for motorists will be installed to direct traffic around the work site, drivers are encouraged to “watch for signange in the region and follow directional arrows.”
The Georgia DoT advised, “Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.” For more information on the work status and traffic, visit 511ga.org or call 511.
