A local AFLAC employee was one of seven professionals representing their respective companies in Washington Wednesday as guests of President Trump.
Michael Porter’s visit to the White House happened on the heels of the State of the Union address where President Trump talked about the Republican-led Tax Reform Bill.
AFLAC has cited the bill as their incentive to award employees a one-time bonus and an increased match in 401k contributions. Porter says he was stunned by the White House invitation.
“Never at any point in seventeen years have I ever thought that I’d be able to be at the White House, much less be in the Oval Office. And not only be in the Oval Office, but get to meet the president of the United States. AFLAC has afforded me and a lot of other people some great opportunities…and in a lifetime of opportunities…this is certainly at the top of that list for me,” says Michael Porter.
The Ledger-Enquirer reports representatives from TSYS also made the trip to Washington to meet with the president.
