MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama School Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey says a document with the Alabama Department of Education’s letter head asking schools not to play games like dodge ball, kickball and duck duck goose is not an official policy.
“We don’t support the document it is not an official policy of this department,” said Mackey.
The document created a lot of buzz on social media, especially from people who played those games growing up.
“I think those games are good for children to play, I feel like they build camaraderie,” said Cory.
“Maybe instead of having two people pick who they want, line them up and every other one is put on a team, that’s how we always did it,” said Carissa Sakahara.
Mackey says it is up to local schools to determine what games are appropriate.
