Alabama eases virus restrictions as storms sweep the South

Local News

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has issued an emergency order temporarily suspending state restrictions imposed because of the new coronavirus if those could interfere with safety during bad weather.

Strong storms were blowing through the South on Sunday.

Ivey says shelters and community safe rooms should remain open but maintain procedures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
