The Americus Fire Department is getting ready to tee-up for its annual benefit golf tournament.
Money raised from the tournament goes toward promoting fire education and prevention programs in the city of Americus.
An example of that is happening right now. The fire department is in the process of modernizing its mobile fire safety house.
“It’s a good way for us to get out and with members of the community. They realize and see what we’re going to do with the proceeds. It’s just a fun, fun time for everybody,” said Chief Bivins.
The tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 12. This year’s event is in the afternoon only and limited to 36 teams.
Spots are filling up quickly.
If you’re interested in participating in the tournament, please contact Harriett Williams at (229) 924-3592 or visit the department’s Facebook page.
