Andersonville National Historic Site holds "Night Museum" to honor veterans

SUMTER COUNTY, Ga (WRBL) - Andersonville National Historic Site opened its gates this evening for a once a year "night museum" activity in honor of Veterans Day.

The park opened back up at six o'clock this evening to treat visitors to a chance to view exhibits in the halls of its Prisoner of War Museum after hours. The Prison Corner also opened as well.

The museum says the evening brought history to life for visitors.

"We'll have a few living historians who will portray confederate guards and union prisoners and portray, and kind give you an idea of what life was like here during the wintertime of 1864,” Jody Mays, Chief of Interpretation & Resource Management at Andersonville National Historic Site.
